Golden Teacher — the gentle classic
The strain everyone recommends to beginners, for good reason: moderate potency, a warm and forgiving character, and a reputation for insightful, "teaching" trips rather than chaotic ones. If it's your first eighth, make it a Golden Teacher.
Penis Envy — the heavyweight
Ignore the name; respect the mushroom. Penis Envy is commonly estimated at 1.5–2× the potency of standard cubensis. Dense, slow-growing, and known for intense visuals and deep ego work. Dose accordingly: 2g of PE can feel like 3.5g of Golden Teacher.
Enigma — the exotic
Enigma is the strange one — a mutation that grows as a dense, brain-like mass instead of caps and stems, with extended maturation that concentrates potency well above average. Priced higher for a reason; experienced users only.
Bluey Vuitton, Makilla Gorilla & Tidal Wave — modern hybrids
These newer designer crosses aim for above-average potency with distinct character: Bluey Vuitton leans euphoric and visual, Makilla Gorilla is a hard-hitting hybrid of PE lineage, and Tidal Wave (an Enigma relative) won the 2021 Psilocybin Cup for potency.

- First-timers: Golden Teacher, 1–1.5g (and read the first-trip guide).
- Regulars wanting depth: Penis Envy or Makilla Gorilla, dosed a notch lower than usual.
- Collectors and veterans: Enigma or Tidal Wave.
